Oak + Oar and Handcraft Creative are pleased to present the fifth instalment of Homegrown, a series dedicated to catching up with some of the homegrown talent with ties to the city of Winnipeg.

After a few emails we had arranged to meet up with former Canadian National Speed Skating Team member Scott Van Horne at the new home of VH Footwear in the south end of the city. For Scott skates had always been a passion. So much so, that he began tinkering with skates at a very young age in his parents garage. This love for hands on creation and innovation resulted in a very successful venture into custom speed skates called VH Footwear. Over the past couple years VH Footwear has manifested itself into a full fledged hockey skate division. Scott now finds himself hoovered over the industrial sewing machine producing the skates for some to the league most talented players including the likes of Jonas Hiller, Ryan Miller, Duncan Keith, Andrew Ladd, Mark Stuart, Blake Wheeler, Zach Bogosian and Dustin Byfuglien.
